Illustration Thesis Sketches

I have not updated this blog for so long!  I've been working on my 32-page book for thesis and haven't had anything amazing to show for it because, well, books take time.  But here are a few line drawing spread pages for the book.  It's a revamp of the "Anti-Love Potion" book and I am doing the line work in ink and coloring in Photoshop and/or Illustrator.  The book is going to be 22"x14" and I'll try to post more when I can.

Movie Posters

So I had to do a couple different variations of a movie poster of our choosing for my Typography I class and I decided to pick "When in Rome."  The movie was so-so, but it was really awesome how they switched back and forth from Rome and the Guggenheim museum in NYC.  Their lack luster movie poster is inexcusable for a movie that was filmed in two of the most beautiful places in the world, so I had to remedy this.  I wanted to introduce Italian architecture into my piece, so I did a little research and created the graphic fountain based on some of my findings.  The fountain is really important to the story, so it's a good fit.  I played around with some color schemes, but I think I really like my first piece (the asymmetrical one) best.

Also, props to my friend Sophia for modeling for me and letting me take a zillion pictures of you!

Anti-Love Potion Pages

As promised, here are a few of my favorite spread pages from my children's book "Anti-Love Potion."  The story is about two neighbor kids: Ralph, a messy and adventurous boy, and Sophie, a clean girly girl.  Sophie has a crush on Ralph, so decides to make him a love potion so he will feel the same way.  Unfortunately for her, Ralph does not like girls, so he decides to combat her love potion with an anti-love potion made out of the most disgusting things he can find in hopes it will gross her out and leave him alone.
